I will always be grateful for having met the late Coach John Wooden when I was an undergraduate at UCLA. His “Pyramid of Success” is a legacy of how he would prepare his teams for basketball, and for life. I think as photographers, we should try to remember what’s important, and what’s not. That’s why I put together a version of Coach Wooden’s Pyramid for photographers:
Everything in a photograph is built on the fundamentals: exposure, composition, and focus. Of course, there are more factors that go into a good shot, like being there! Needless to say, let’s take a moment to think about how we can slow down our thoughts and try to craft better photos moving forward.
