I always like going back through my older photos… I can’t believe this one is nearly 10 years old! Nevertheless, you never know what kind of image you can make when you have Raw files and pair them up with new post-processing tools and more experience.

While I definitely like shooting in color, sometimes monochrome delivers more impact. The magic of digital photography is that you can adjust the tones in a monochrome image based on the underlying color data. It’s something that would have been impossible with film. I used one of my custom monochrome film presets for Adobe Lightroom on this image (more on this in the details).

What strikes me about this particular image are the diagonal lines running through the scene. In the original color image, they simply weren’t all that striking:
