How to Choose a Digital Camera

A recording from Jason Odell's live video

Thank you to everyone who tuned into my livestream today! As you know, choosing a camera comes down to a lot of factors, not the least of which is price. In today’s livestream I went over some of the decisions you’ll need to make when purchasing a camera for you or someone you know who is interested in photography.

Specifically, I discuss:

  • Smartphone cameras

  • Compact cameras (point and shoots)

  • DSLR cameras

  • Mirrorless cameras

I then go through what features I think are important to consider, and the pros and cons of each.

Lastly, I end with a side by-side comparison of four modern mirrorless cameras that enthusiasts might want to consider:

  • Canon EOS R10

  • Fujifilm X-T30 III

  • Nikon Z 50 II

  • OM System OM-5 Mark II

You can see the full comparison here.
