Car Week: ’57 Chevy
A different take on the ubiquitous classic car
Whenever I attend a car show, there seems to be no shortages of the 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air, aka, ’57 Chevy. When you say ’57 Chevy, this is the iconic car that comes to mind. So how do you capture the elegance of this vehicle that seems to saturate the car shows? For me, it was two things.
First, I chose not to capture a wide shot of the car. In my experience, unless you have the opportunity to capture a single automobile, the shot just gets too cluttered. At most car shows, the cars are parked so close together that wide shots are nearly impossible.
Second, I went with an alternative processing style. Not only did I choose a monochrome treatment, but I also leveraged the Solarization filter in Nik Color Efex. This filter creates a unique look that really accentuates the graphical elements of this beautiful car. Despite the treatment, it’s still absolutely recognizable to any car fans as being a ’57 Chevy.

Lovely shapes 😃
I've gotten to the point after so many years, so many car shows that I skip over them these days. Unless there is something unique about it. Cool processing and shot!
