There’s a lot going on right now, but I wanted to share a photo I captured way back in August of 2016. You never know when a photo will be relevant later. I’m making the shooting details free today for all my subscribers. Enjoy!
Shooting Details
Nikon D810 with 16mm f/2.8 Fisheye Nikkor lens
1/125s f/13 with flash (SB-900)
I created selection masks in Adobe Lightroom Classic for the foreground and the sky, which allowed me to adjust their color temperatures differently. This “moody blue” look using a flash and tungsten WB is a trick I learned from Dave Black at a photo workshop a long time ago… Since I didn’t have a gel for my flash, I recreated the look in post. Interestingly enough, the current masking tools in Lr are so much better that I went ahead and deleted the original masks and replaced them with new ones.
Shot Location: Somewhere near Denver International Airport near E-470 and 56th Avenue (I didn’t have GPS for my camera then). They used to have huge fields of sunflowers out there every year, but as with all things, too many “photographers” disrespected the fields and trampled them trying to get the perfect engagement photo. Since then, they don’t plant the sunflowers there. Sad.
